Independents Biennial
Independents Biennial is a programme of activity initiated by artists and curators working in Liverpool to coincide with the Biennial festival. In 2002 and 2004 the programmes were an eclectic mix of exhibitions, live art, performances, interventions and happenings. Involving artists from around the world, Independents Biennial adds a unique dimension to Liverpool Biennial, and takes place in many locations across the city throughout the 10 weeks of the festival.

Information for artists:
Independents Biennial takes place independently from the Liverpool Biennial organisation (office). Liverpool Biennial is not involved in managing Independents Biennial, does not finance any aspect (it is not a funding organisation) nor provides buildings or exhibition spaces. It does support Independents Biennial, by providing a national and international platform as a part of the festival. Liverpool Biennial supports the development of the programme through encouraging artists, arts organisations, funders and venue owners to establish a framework for the shows.
Arts Council England has appointed John Brady as the Creative Facilitator for this year's Independents strand. John will be responsible for co-ordinating the Independents programme and he will be the main point of contact for all artists participating in this element of the festival. You can contact John at
